Los Angeles (March 23rd, 2009) – Universal Music Publishing Group has announced the signing of acclaimed electronica artist Little Boots to a long-term, global publishing deal.
Little Boots is the alter-ego of Blackpool born Victoria Hesketh who emerged as the most hotly tipped artist for 2009 in a BBC poll of 130 music industry movers and shakers at the end of last year.
Already well known among discerning YouTube fans for the homemade videos of classic cover versions she has been posting on the internet over the last year or so, Little Boots is signed to Atlantic Records and has recently been recording her as-yet-untitled debut album in Los Angeles with producer Greg Kurstin whose previous credits include Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, Ladyhawke, Lily Allen and Natasha Bedingfield among others.
The new signing was announced today by Caroline Elleray, Head of A&R, Universal Music Publishing UK who said, “Little Boots is talented, unique and visionary. She writes brilliant, accessible music and as well as being a superb performer is a songwriter of rare ability and maturity. Little Boots is a hugely exciting prospect and we are delighted that she has chosen to work with us."
Oli Isaacs of This Is Music, who manage Little Boots said, "Aside from being a quintessentially modern pop artist Victoria is a great songwriter. It makes sense for her to be working with Universal Music Publishing Group and with Caroline Elleray, Tom Campion and the whole team there. Everyone at This Is Music is incredibly excited to work with them on Little Boots."
