Universal Music Publishing Group Re-Ups Major Publishing Deal With Gloria and Emilio Estefan and Estefan’s Music Publishing Companies

Los Angeles, CA – David Renzer, Chairman & CEO, Universal Music Publishing Group; Eddie Fernandez, Senior Vice President, Latin America, Universal Music Publishing Group; Gloria Estefan; and Emilio Estefan, Jr., Chairman of Estefan Enterprises, Inc. today announced the successful renewal of an exclusive agreement to administer the publishing interests of Foreign Imported Productions & Publishing, Inc. ("FIPP"), Estefan Music Publishing, Inc. ("EMPI"), world renowned, five-time Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Gloria Estefan, and twelve-time Grammy-winning artist/writer/producer Emilio Estefan, Jr., for the world ex-North America.

The long-term deal between UMPG, the world’s leading music publishing companies, and the Estefan’s highly successful independent music publishing companies, represents a consolidation of the Estefan’s publishing companies (formerly with Sony/ATV) and Gloria Estefan’s publishing (formerly with EMI), which are now all handled by UMPG.

Upon making the announcement Mr. Renzer commented: “Gloria and Emilio are icons and continue to create exciting new music that will become the standards of the future. We are so proud to continue our wonderful working relationship with Gloria and Emilio and staff, and their wonderful publishing catalogues.

Mr. Fernandez further commented: "It’s a real pleasure and honor to continue our long standing relationship with the most renowned and respected Latin symbols, Emilio and Gloria Estefan; we are proud to be part of the same family.”

Mr. Estefan added: “We couldn't be happier to extend our publishing agreement with UMPG. Their expertise in administering our catalog has proven to be extremely successful for us. As the music business continues to evolve I am happy to be working with a company that is always ahead of the curve."

Gloria Estefan’s new album 90 Millas is scheduled for U.S. release on September 18, 2007 and pays tribute to Gloria's Latin heritage with a collection of newly recorded original Spanish language songs celebrating Cuban music and it's culture. The album has already debuted No. 1 in Holland, marking the first time in Holland history that an album recorded entirely in Spanish has debuted No.1. 90 Millas pays homage to the most influential and universally respected Latin musicians of the past fifty years. Some of the legendary artists joining Estefan on this album include Arturo Sandoval, Andy Garcia, Chocolate, India, Cachao, Papo Lucca, Johnny Pacheco, Generoso, and many more. The first single “No Llores” is currently hot on Latin radio and is also available digitally. “No Llores” features guest performances by the legendary Carlos Santana, Sheila E., and Jose Feliciano.

Through this publishing deal, which originated through UMPG’s Latin America division, UMPG will administer more than 3,000 titles including scores of hit songs recorded by a host of American and international acts. The Gloria Estefan and Emilio Estefan, Jr. catalogs include major hits by Gloria and Miami Sound Machine such as "Conga," "Don't Wanna Lose You," "Reach," "Anything For You," "Words Get In The Way," "Bad Boy," "Here We Are," "Coming Out Of The Dark," "Always Tomorrow," "Live For Loving You," and "Cuts Both Ways."

The multicultural FIPP/EMPI catalogs consist of some of the most popular English & Spanish language compositions in the world. Featuring mainstream Pop and Latin style performances and productions, the undisputed success of the catalogs is due to a host of talented songwriters who have, for 20 years, consistently delivered hit after hit.

Gloria Estefan – Singer/Songwriter/Philanthropist/Humanitarian
Known far and wide as the "Queen of Latin Pop," Gloria Estefan is one of the most recognized artists in the world and the single most successful crossover performer in music history. She has sold more than 70 million albums worldwide and achieved an astounding number of awards. As a songwriter, Gloria was the first-ever Latin female to receive the BMI "Songwriter of the Year" award. She has composed 15 of her own Top 10 Hits including "Anything For You," "Coming Out of the Dark," "Reach" (the 1996 Olympic International Games theme song), "Here We Are," and "Con Los Anos." Additionally she has written worldwide hits recorded by Shakira ("Whenever, Wherever") and Jennifer Lopez ("Let’s Get Loud"). She and her husband, Emilio Estefan, Jr., were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and received the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.

Emilio Estefan, Jr. – Artist/Songwriter/Producer/Record and Publishing Executive
For more than two decades Emilio Estefan, Jr. has continually set new standards and broken cultural and sales boundaries in Pop & Latin music. Having amassed a multitude of awards (including 12 Grammy Awards, numerous BMI songwriter awards, and the first-ever Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences Person of the Year Award), Emilio Estefan, Jr. has become one of the most sought after producers in the crossover arena. He is responsible for the cross-over success of Jon Secada and Shakira and two Grammy-winning albums for each. He was one of the Executive producers of Ricky Martin’s record-breaking English debut album and produced songs for Jennifer Lopez’s debut album and for Marc Anthony. He has also produced for several major motion picture soundtracks, including Madonna ("Evita"), Top Gun, Pocahantas, Little Mermaid and Dance With Me. In addition, he has also produced for "the Queen of Salsa" Celia Cruz, Mexican ranchero Alejandro Fernandez, Mexican diva Thalia, Mexican song stylist Ana Gabriel, Colombia’s "King of ‘Vallenato" Carlos Vives, and the angelic sensation Jaci Velasquez. Estefan is founding member/leader of the group Miami Sound Machine, which catapulted to international stardom in the early eighties when their hit single, "Conga," stunned the music world by appearing simultaneously on Billboard’s Pop, Latin, Soul and Dance Charts. The band and groundbreaking track set the tone for subsequent successes and rise of international superstar Gloria Estefan.

Gloria and Emilio Estefan join UMPG Latin America’s incredible roster of talent, including, Gustavo Santaolalla, Juanes, Juan Gabriel, Willy Chirino, A.B. Quantanilla III, Café Tacuba, Hector El Father, Manny Benito, Nely, Rudy Perez, Tulio Cremisini, Wisin & Yandel, Paulino Vargas (Tigres del norte), and many more.
